Kevin Freedman is a lifelong community activist and dedicated volunteer. He spent the first half of his career in social services working with Winnipeg's most marginalized, and later was a non-profit executive. He has been a member of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg since 2015 and specializes in organizational behaviour and non-profit management.

For more than 15 years, Kevin has been sitting on boards of directors in progressively more complex organizations and has become an expert and educator in effective board management. He was a trustee from 2014-2018 and brought in numerous changes to how the board operates to make it more transparent. effective, and responsive to the needs of the community.

Kevin is a passionate environmentalist and human rights activist. He has long been active in the labour movement as a shop steward and local president, spent two years in Indonesia volunteering for the human rights organization Peace Brigades International, and is well-known as the founder of the water stewardship project the Water Conservation Challenge, and the ad-hoc disaster aid group the Mediocre Crisis Response Team.

Kevin is a avid runner and swimmer, husband to Arum, and father to Daru and Ellie. He also stole a car once.
